Multidisciplinary explanation of physical, socio-historical and psychological patterns bringing tension between thoughts and built environment, idealistic and realistic, abstract and concrete.

Conical Intersect serves as a telescopic medium that connects both the past and the future of the city of Paris through existence in the present. Urban renewal of the city also implies changes in society. The hole in the building brings awareness of the changes through which Paris passes – Centre Pompidou as the future of the city is looking through the telescopic shape of the “historical and old Parisian house” to the present moment of the street and all the changes that are moving the city forward the future. Old is disappearing and the future is nearer than ever. “Conical Intersect recalls, on the one hand, a history of the place, whilst, on the other hand, dramatising a situation where communities are evicted from the land: dispersed, made powerless.” (Muir, 2011) Demolition of the space disperses the society out of their habitation and places them on the outskirts of the city. The once dynamic city space is now becoming a space of exclusivity and luxury. The land is overtaken by modern political forces that make the existing society powerlessness and fade.

A time-space continuum of urban life becomes art by itself – the life of the city positioned as a medium of the artistic act. That should mean that the vibrance of society and its existence in space is a work of art – the implication of the human existence and occupation of a specific place in time. The existence of the society in the space is temporal, the only traces that stay are a historical heritage that implies previous modes of society. The temporality of materialisation is also provided within the concept of the project. Placed in the building foreseen for demolition, metaphorically direct also to the demolition of the existing laws and order. Disappearance after the moment of a showoff intersects present, past and future intervals of time. What is now will no longer be, and what is to come is already here. Thus, the project is double-faced while questioning the time – “the artwork is both temporal and temporally distorted, both chronological and anamorphic in its temporal structure.” (Muir, 2011) Facing the reality, the project is facing the temporality and absoluteness of society. Demolishing the existing to build a new structure proves that future societies turn from humanism to populism, from permanent to disappearing.

A series of drawings trying to examine the absence and presence of the project. What does it mean to draw the time-space continuum and how to translate fourth-dimensional space on a two-dimensional surface? Tracing the time with the lines of cuts, changing the position or twisting the reality brings a new dimension to the concept of spiral travel of ellipses through time and space. The drawings try to establish a new spatial order and point out the instability of the passage of time and the change of position in space. The temporality of the present space is implied elements that last free from changing the time but also elements are present independently of the moment. Architecture is the performance for society, a temporal explosion of the feelings that occupy multitudes after which are replaced or demolished – faded in time and space. “;s:8:”datoteke”;a:6:{i:0;s:135:”https://da-festival.hr/wp-content/uploads/wpcf7_drag-n-drop_uploads/tmp_uploads/1_Petar-Kukec_Gordon-Matta-Clark_-Conical-Intersect.png”;i:1;s:135:”https://da-festival.hr/wp-content/uploads/wpcf7_drag-n-drop_uploads/tmp_uploads/2_Petar-Kukec_Gordon-Matta-Clark_-Conical-Intersect.png”;i:2;s:135:”https://da-festival.hr/wp-content/uploads/wpcf7_drag-n-drop_uploads/tmp_uploads/3_Petar-Kukec_Gordon-Matta-Clark_-Conical-Intersect.png”;i:3;s:135:”https://da-festival.hr/wp-content/uploads/wpcf7_drag-n-drop_uploads/tmp_uploads/4_Petar-Kukec_Gordon-Matta-Clark_-Conical-Intersect.png”;i:4;s:135:”https://da-festival.hr/wp-content/uploads/wpcf7_drag-n-drop_uploads/tmp_uploads/5_Petar-Kukec_Gordon-Matta-Clark_-Conical-Intersect.png”;i:5;s:135:”https://da-festival.hr/wp-content/uploads/wpcf7_drag-n-drop_uploads/tmp_uploads/6_Petar-Kukec_Gordon-Matta-Clark_-Conical-Intersect.png”;}s:5:”video”;a:1:{i:0;s:0:””;}s:10:”acceptance”;s:1:”1″;}
